Data Deposit Info

RUDA engages in collecting, assorting, and preserving social research data in order to make it available for secondary use. Social research data is not only a valuable resource for an individual researcher, but it is also an asset for and benefits society. Depositing and sharing your data greatly contributes to the progress of academics. In addition, promoting secondary analysis using open data may prevent unnecessary social surveys from being conducted and as a result, improve the efficiency of conducting surveys in the future . In order to utilize social research data as a public service and to enhance the presence of your research, please consider depositing the data you have.

RUDA executes the usage approval process on behalf of the depositor.

CSI serves as the proxy in handling administrative work related to the data approval/rejection process (it approves and limits usage to scientific and educational purposes). You do not need to deal with the processing of detailed paperwork once the data has been deposited.

Requirements for depositing the data.

RUDA requests that the depositor sends a sample questionnaire that was used in the survey as well as the electronic survey research data. In addition, if there is any related material (such as a set of completed questionnaires, codebooks, and reports) in your possession, please deposit it along with the data.

No fees associated with depositing data.

Depositing data in the archive is free of charge. RUDA bears all delivery charges related to depositing the data.

Prior to depositing your data.

Before proceeding to deposit the data, please confirm the following requirements:

・The depositor holds the copyright, ownership rights, and the license of the data.
・No other party’s right are violated by depositing your data.

Unless these requirements are satisfied, RUDA may refuse any offers to deposit the data.
