Understanding the Results of Your Physical
- The Health Center will contact you if repeat testing or an appointment is required based on the results of your physical. If the Health Center contacts you, please follow their instructions.
- If you should have any questions regarding the results of your physical or the instructions from the Health Center, please contact the Health Center of the campus you are affiliated with. Please note that we may be unable to respond to telephone inquiries for reasons of identification, and inquiries may need to be made in person.
- ”Health Certificates” are issued from the automated certificate issuing machines (Ikebukuro: 1st floor of Tucker Hall, Niiza: 1st floor, Building 7). Health certificates are 300 yen per copy.
- Please note that the “Report on Physical Checkup Results” sent to your home address cannot be reissued.
Height / Weight
BMI (body mass index) can be calculated from your height and weight.
BMI=Weight (Kg) / Height (m) / Height (m)
BMI |
---|
<18.5 | Underweight |
18.5 ≤ ~ < 25 | Normal weight |
25 ≤ | Obese |
(Source: Japan Society for the Study of Obesity)
Although predisposition is a factor, a BMI that is too low or too high may be accompanied by health issues.
Vision
Consult an ophthalmologist if you feel that your vision impacts your daily life or have experienced symptoms such as a sudden reduction in vision or blurry vision.
Blood Pressure
Normal blood pressure is a systolic (maximum) blood pressure of under 130 mmHg and a diastolic (minimum) blood pressure of under 85 mmHg.
A systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or higher / diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg or higher is categorized as high blood pressure.
Internal Medicine
During the physical, we will listen to your heartbeat, check for symptoms of anemia, and check the condition of your skin and the size of your thyroid.
If there are findings based on the internal examination such as a heart murmur, arrhythmia, enlarged thyroid, or symptoms of anemia, the school physician will explain the findings directly to you on the day of the physical. If determined to be necessary by the school physician, an electrocardiogram will also be conducted on the day of the physical, and the results will be explained. Please contact the Health Center if you would like to review the findings or the electrocardiogram results.
If you are told to undergo a detailed examination or repeat testing is required, ensure that you follow up and notify the Health Center of the campus you are affiliated with to inform them of the results.
