We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor for your understanding and support of Rikkyo University and the College of College of Arts' education and research.

In 2024, our university will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Throughout this long journey, College of Arts has a history of over 110 years as one of the oldest faculties, and the richness of its learning is reflected in the charm of the campus. By carefully preserving tradition while constantly innovating, it is a breeding ground for cultivating creativity that appeals to modern sensibilities, experiencing the depth of history and culture, learning the importance of communication that connects people, and developing a deep understanding of "human activities" and humanity.

The foundation of this is the educational philosophy known as "liberal arts." This education does not merely teach specific specialization or vocational skills, but also equips students with flexible ability to think critically based on broad knowledge, and the art of living freely and with a humane attitude. Through this learning, we can acquire the ability to consider our own existence, become aware of the existence of others, understand a world with different cultures and values, and communicate with empathy. These are skills that are essential for living in today's globalized society, and are also an important element in realizing well-being, allowing students to live their daily lives with a sense of happiness.

College of Arts is made up of four departments and eight course in~, with the following research and teaching areas: christian studies, English and American Literature, German Literature, French Literature, Japanese Literature, Literature and Philosophy, World History, Japanese History, Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies, and Education. These diverse academic fields mutually stimulate each other, and we have created a flexible curriculum that allows students to learn beyond their own boundaries.

Other programs include "Life Career Education," in which students design their way of life in society while studying the humanities, "Overseas field study," which deepen students' overseas experiences, and the "Dual Program," which began in 2023, which introduces a new special advancement system that allows students to earn a master's degree in as little as five years by deepening their knowledge in either the "SDGs Research Program" or the "Humanities Information and Media Studies Program" in addition to their respective specialization fields.

We will continue to strive to harmonize academic traditions with new learning styles and provide stimulating learning experiences, so we sincerely ask guarantor to continue to watch over their students' achievements with kindness.

Written by Dean, College of Intercultural Communication, SATOMI MORI

The society we live in is full of challenges that arise from "differences." The coexistence and collaboration of people with diverse languages, cultural backgrounds, and values often creates difficult situations that are fraught with complexity and ambiguity. At College of Intercultural Communication, we aim to foster the ability and attitude to engage with people of different backgrounds, understand the circumstances that give rise to differences in values, and contribute to a peaceful and harmonious society. Our faculty and staff, who have accumulated research in the four academic fields of "Communication Studies," "Language Studies," "Interpretation and Translation Studies," and "Global Studies," will guide and support students in their learning.

In the first year, students will have an overview of all areas of the faculty, and will acquire Academic Learning Methods. Throughout the four years, students will acquire knowledge in their specialization fields, but curriculum, which has four related fields side by side, also promotes cross-disciplinary and creative learning. There are also various practical subjects, which develop the ability to conceive, collaborate, and act, while at the same time nurturing a critical perspective and ability to consider both by comparing the knowledge gained from lecture and specialization books with actual experiences. In discipline such as "Overseas Study Training," which all students participate in as a rule, "Overseas Field Study," "Domestic field study field study," "Overseas Internship," and "Service Learning," students will consider various subject group by providing Japanese language learning assistance as a part of regional collaboration, learning assistance of foreign students, and planning and implementing English activities for elementary and junior high school students. In the fourth year, students will further deepen their learning in specialization fields by completing graduation research project. In the "Dual Language Pathway," students will use their advanced language skills to study specialization in both English and Japanese, and gain the ability to be active in both languages.

Our faculty's curriculum aims to develop individuals who can think and act on issues that arise from "difference" based on insights gained from going back and forth between knowledge and practice. We believe that this will enable students to thrive in their respective fields in the future, with specialization and a broad perspective, and to contribute to society.

I would like to ask all guarantor and guardians for their continued support of our students and our faculty academic year as well.

Written by Dean, College of Economics, TAKESHI IKEDA

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor for your continued support of our university and our faculty's education.

The Japanese economy has been described as in a long period of stagnation over the past quarter century, but it is also true that various changes have continued to occur in our economy and society. Diverse factors such as globalization, digital transformation (DX), the development of AI (artificial intelligence), a declining birthrate and aging population, and population decline are interacting with each other and slowly but surely bringing about various changes in our economy and society.

The Rikkyo University College of Economics aims to develop the skills necessary to survive in this ever-changing economic society. These skills can be broadly divided into three areas: data analysis skills, logical thinking ability, and action.

As for data analysis skills, many statistical discipline are offered, including an introduction to data analysis that all students learn from their first year. As for logical thinking ability, many discipline in the traditional academic fields of the Faculty of College of Economics, such as theory, history, and policy, are essential for cultivating logical thinking ability. As for action skills, there are many career-related discipline and overseas study programs unique to College of Economics that go beyond classroom learning.

Rikkyo University's College of Economics has a history of over 110 years, dating back to Department of Commerce and Economics established in 1907. Since then, in order to respond to the challenges facing society at any given time, we have created new departments, reformed curriculum, improved our teaching methods, and sent many excellent alumnus out into society. We will continue to strive to further improve our educational programs so that we remain a college that students will be glad to enrollment. We would also like to ask guarantor for their understanding and cooperation in the education offered by Rikkyo University's College of Economics.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor for your continued support of our university and our faculty.

Rikkyo University's College of Business, founded in 2006, will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary. Over the past 20 years, the environment surrounding business management, the technology and people's skills that drive business management, and social interest have all changed significantly. However, College of Business advocates "good business management" and cultivates global leaders who can realize a better future by applying business theories and methods to the various challenges facing modern society. To achieve this goal, we at College of Business, in accordance with Rikkyo University's 150-year tradition of liberal arts education, are front-runners in creating new value, and provide a place of learning and practice for faculty and staff, staff, and students to work together to co-create economic, social, and environmental value.

Since its founding, the School of College of Business has focused on project-based active learning in collaboration with client companies. Through practical learning in small groups, students acquire their own unique leadership skills. In addition, through discipline on business management in English and overseas study programs, we aim to nurture future business leaders who can play an active role around the world.

In today's world, where technological innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI) are advancing rapidly, imagination and creativity based on human sensibility and thoughts are becoming increasingly important. In order to foster these skills, College of Business works with various stakeholders, including companies, local residents, and alumnus, to provide learning opportunities that enhance the quality and quantity of students' experiences. This allows students to deepen their interest in the world, society, and the future, and further develop their proactiveness, ambition, and flexibility, allowing them to grow proactively.

Currently, situations that we used to take for granted are no longer normal are happening all over the world. We need to be aware of this and have the strength and courage to pursue the ideals of a new era. Universities must be places of learning where we continue to explore the truth and take on challenges in order to realize a better future and a better world. The faculty and faculty and staff College of Business, together with the students and everyone involved, are working hard to ensure that the learning here will provide a solid foundation for the students to take a step toward the future. I'm coming. We would like to ask all guarantor for their continued understanding and support.

Written by Dean, College of Science, YASUYUKI YAMADA

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor for your continued deep understanding and warm support of Rikkyo University and the Faculty of College of Science 's educational activities.

In College of Science, we explore the "principles" behind universal themes that transcend human activities, such as natural phenomena and mathematical structures. "What is the largest number?" "How did the universe come into being?" "How do various compounds form from petroleum?" "What is life, anyway?" -- I'm sure many of you have had questions like these. The study of science involves confronting such simple questions and searching for the answers. In the process, you will need the ability to think logically while using the scientific method of observation → hypothesis → verification.

Through this type of learning, College of Science aims to develop problem-solving skills based on logical thinking. Each of our four departments -Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, and Department of Life Science offers curriculum specialized in area of specialization, allowing students to pursue research that matches their own interests. In addition, by offering subjects available across departments (in a college), we provide opportunities to think about science careers and the role of science in society. After graduation, some students pursue further research at graduate school, while others make use of their knowledge and skills to play an active role in society. We hope that all of (be) enrolled will soar high in their own paths.

Rikkyo University's College of Science will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2024. We will continue to carefully preserve and develop the fine traditions that have been cultivated over this long history, such as attentive instruction in small class size and education and research that emphasizes the fundamentals. At the same time, we will respond flexibly to technological innovation and changes in social conditions, provide education that is in line with the times, and strive to cultivate human resources who can contribute to society and shoulder the future of humanity.

We hope that all guarantor will continue to give their support and cooperation. Thank you very much.

Written by Dean, College of Sociology, HIROYOSHI SUNAKAWA

College of Sociology is made up of three departments with the keywords "society", "culture", and "media". Sociology is an academic field that deals with various issues that occur in society, and the scope of its coverage is expanding in modern society. While each department maintains its independence, curriculum allows students to come into contact with sociology as a whole by taking each other's discipline. As students in the Faculty of College of Sociology learn, their interests broaden and deepen. The faculty, who are skilled in both quality and quantity, help deepen those interests. In addition to enhancing education and research, the faculty is also working to utilize alumnus and provide career support.

One of the characteristics of the Faculty of College of Sociology is that it has a consistent seminar discipline structure from the first to fourth year. In the first year, students take "Basic seminar" combining three departments, then in second year, they move on to "specialization seminar 1" based on each department, and then in the third year, "specialization seminar 2". Students will deepen their awareness of the issues and connect it to their "graduation thesis" in the fourth year. Although "graduation research project" is also an option, more than 90% of students write "graduation thesis". In the first and second year, as well as "Basic seminar", students will acquire the basics of sociology and research by taking "Principles of Sociology" and "Social Research Methods" as compulsory subject common to the faculty. In addition to inter-university exchanges, the faculty also offers its own exchange programs for studying abroad. From academic year, the "SDS (Social Data Science) Course" will also be launched, which can be selected after enrollment.

If you look at the website of the Department of College of Sociology, the first thing you will see is, "How can we get involved in social change?" In order to materialize that "involvement," we aim to cultivate people who can "discover, analyze, and propose." We are working to produce human resources who can confront various changing social problems, think of them as their own, and propose and implement solutions.

guarantor ask for the understanding and support of all parents.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all guarantor for your continued support of our faculty's education.
guarantor, have you ever visited our school's Ikebukuro Campus? guarantor who are satisfied with the education provided by our faculty, as well as guarantor who are concerned about their children's studies and career paths after graduation, are welcome to attend our information session for guardians ( Please visit guarantor conference at an elementary, junior high, or high school).

At information session for guardians, we introduce various educational reform initiatives in our faculty in recent years and the activities of our students. At information session for guardians, we discuss, for example, students who enrollment from our faculty in three years by taking the ``Legal Bar Course'' (a specialized course for students aiming to become lawyers or judges) and enrolling in law school, as well as those who deepen their studies in international politics. You can hear directly from students who went to universities in the UK using the study abroad program for the purpose of studying abroad. Students who talk about their dreams for the future with a lively expression will appear like your future children. information session for guardians will also answer questions such as ``What should I do to earn credits in a planned manner?'' or ``Should I apply for a corporate internship during the summer vacation of my second year as an undergraduate?'' Our faculty members are always available for various types of consultation from students through "office hours" (once a week, when they accept questions and consultations from students), so please feel free to ask.

The learning environment for university students has changed dramatically from the days when guarantor lived Campus Life. However, even in the changing learning environment, we have continued to maintain a high academic standard and a hassle-free curriculum based on the founding philosophy of the Faculty of ``nurturing human beings'' who are endowed with the wisdom of peace and order that goes beyond technical knowledge of law and politics. Our highly qualified faculty members teach law and political science. This is the strength of our department. We hope that guarantor will be able to watch over their children's Campus Life with peace of mind.

Written by Dean, College of Tourism, KOUMEI MATSUMURA

Learning about tourism lies in the journey in which each student accumulates travel experiences, talks together, and asks their own questions. Through class and seminar, Faculty College of Tourism members accompany students in their learning process and help them answer questions that are meaningful. We are well aware that College of Tourism 's journey will develop into a journey of ``observing rather than seeing'' and ``listening rather than listening.'' At universities, such trips are called study tours or fieldwork.

In order to interact with the people behind the tourism system and the places where tourism takes place through such a "journey," it is desirable to acquire and utilize a wide range of knowledge on a daily basis, based on specialization knowledge. For example, the 100 minutes of class is only one session of the timetable, but behind the ideas and terminology of tourism presented in class is a vast chain of knowledge. We hope that everyone at guarantor understands that a single class frame can never fit into 100 minutes, only by walking back and forth through that chain without rushing or hurrying until the sun goes down. The joy of travel lies in the detours and detours along the way.

Rikkyo University's College of Tourism has the longest history of tourism education among Japan's four-year universities, and has been a leader in tourism education in Japan. Not only have alumnus been widely active both domestically and internationally, but in recent years many local governments and companies have entered the tourism field, and the scope of tourism is expanding to every corner of modern society. In particular, now that we have overcome this historic pandemic together and the movement and exchange symbolized by tourism are about to return to normal, we will examine the various issues surrounding tourism that have come to light and explore new forms of tourism for the future. Thinking has become a fundamental and contemporary issue related to the essence of tourism.

The purpose of studying at university is similar to the fact that the purpose of traveling is not to arrive. We sincerely ask that guarantor and guardians understand the education provided by our faculty and that they will warmly watch over all of our students as they work hard to learn.

Written by Dean, College of Community and Human Services, TAKENORI KINOSHITA

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor their support and cooperation for the education of our university and our faculty.
Currently in Japan, various problems such as declining birthrate, aging population, declining population, work styles, economic, educational and regional disparities, care for the elderly and disabled, child-rearing, child abuse, domestic violence, young people, women, and foreigners are becoming more prominent. It has become. In order to respond to these challenges, the national government, local governments, NPOs, businesses, and citizens living there need to discuss and work together socially, while at the same time providing individualized support tailored to the needs of those in need.

Based on the basic philosophy of "Vitae Dignitati" (for the dignity of life), College of Community and Human Services aims to contribute to building a community-based welfare society in order to address the social issues mentioned above through education and research. The purpose is to train human resources.

At College of Community and Human Services, you will learn a lot about the efforts of NPOs, companies, and governments overseas and throughout Japan to learn how to respond to these problems. Then, we actually go out into the field and analyze, think, and act on how we should approach the situation in accordance with the circumstances of the region, local government, and organization. I believe that the problem-solving skills acquired in this way will be of great help to students as they survive in an era of major social change.

Now, College of Community and Human Services underwent faculty reorganization in April 2023, enriching faculty and staff structure and making it possible to provide even more attractive education.
Department of Social Work further enhances the training and education of social workers, as well as social workers who play an active role as Chair who play a key role in coordinating welfare, health, and medical care, social welfare civil servants, and businesses and private organizations that contribute to resolving social issues. We will develop a new curriculum to develop human resources who can do the same.
Department of Community Development has also expanded curriculum and systematized it into ``Policy Studies course in~'' and ``Community Studies course in~.'' The ``Policy Studies course in~'' develops public human resources who support local communities through policy formulation and implementation through citizen participation. The ``Community Studies course in~'' develops human resources who can contribute to the formation of a coexist society through actual community research and practice in collaboration with the local community.

This new initiative is also leading to more fulfilling learning opportunities for current (be) enrolled who enrollment before academic year.
As College of Community and Human Services, all of our faculty and faculty and staff will do our best to provide rich learning opportunities and to deepen interactions between students and between students and faculty and staff and staff. We would like to ask all guarantor for their continued support.

Written by Dean, College of Contemporary Psychology, MAKOTO SHINOZAKI

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor their support and cooperation for the education of our university and our faculty.

Society is changing at a dizzying pace. Portable videophones like those we saw on science fiction dramas on cathode ray tubes as children have become a reality in the form of smartphones, and the development of communication methods such as ZOOM instantly connects distant places. The development of science and technology, led by artificial intelligence, knows no bounds. However, we know that material wealth does not necessarily lead to spiritual wealth. The convenience of being able to get what we need at the touch of a button without having to go outside can also be a factor in isolating people and weakening interpersonal relationships.

In recent years, we often hear the word "diversity." While everyone should understand that there should be no discrimination based on birth, upbringing, skin color, or gender, it is not easy to accept the existence of others who are different from ourselves and to fully accept and coexist with those differences. In this climate, we continue to ask ourselves what it means to be a "person" and what it means to have a "heart," and I believe that the significance of our faculty's existence will become increasingly important in the future.

It will soon be 20 years since College of Contemporary Psychology was founded in 2006. The school is made up of two departments: Department of Psychology, which is proud of its 75-year history since its founding in 1949, and the Department of Department of Body Expression and Cinematic Arts which is unique even on a national level.

Department of Psychology is based on scientific and empirical methodology and (be) enrolled faculty members who cover almost all areas of psychology, such as perception, cognition, learning, development, society, industry, and clinical psychology, and conducts research and education. The Department also offers discipline necessary for students certification acquisition the national certification exam to become a "certified psychologist."

Meanwhile, Department of Body Expression and Cinematic Arts (be) enrolled a wide range of faculty members, from researchers in visual and physical theory and philosophy to stage directors, dancers, and film Proctor, and they pursue research and creation beyond the differences between practice, production, and theory.

Many students have already graduated from this faculty and are now working in various fields of society, including as psychologists and creators, and living their own lives.

We ask all guarantor to please continue to support and watch over the progress of our school.

Written by Dean, College of Sport and Wellness, HARUYASU KATO

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor for your continued understanding and cooperation with the educational activities of our university and faculty.

The impression of the Faculty of Sport and Wellness may seem like a place to simply practice sports, but this faculty is a place to explore various academic fields related to sports. The faculty has faculty members with a wide range of area of specialization, including sports sociology, sports psychology, data science, sports nutrition, training science, sports methodology, and sports medicine and conditioning, and each of them is (be) enrolled in cutting-edge research and education. In modern society, sports go beyond the scope of simple athletics and are closely related to a wide range of fields, such as health promotion, education, regional development, and even business. Our faculty aims to explore the multifaceted value and potential of sports from a scientific perspective, and we would like students to experience this.

We also place special emphasis on discovering the individuality and potential of each student. After enrollment, students are exposed to a variety of area of specialization, which allows them to discover their own interests and deepen specialization in those fields. In this process, we place emphasis not on simply acquiring knowledge, but on developing problem-solving skills, critical ability to think critically, and above all, the ability to follow through.

In order to provide an education that utilizes the strengths of each small class size student, we also provide small-group seminar, practical training, individualized instruction, etc. This is not an evaluation centered on studying and academic ability as in high school, but rather aims to draw out students' potential, develop their individual characteristics, and equip them with a strong weapon for their future social lives.

We hope that through their studies at our faculty, students will grow into individuals who can contribute to society and acquire the ability to live life to the fullest. We look forward to your continued support and cooperation.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all guarantor their continued understanding and support for our education.

With the progress of globalization, the world in the future will become more and more complicated. The Global Liberal Arts Program is to develop human resources who can easily move people and information across national borders, face various issues in such a world, and solve them with leadership. It was launched in April of the year.

We are always thinking about what is necessary to solve the problems that are caused by multiple layers of culture, religion, politics, and economy. Global Liberal Arts Program Students who spent four years in specialization We are working on the development and improvement of program contents so that we can acquire the ability to demonstrate leadership among people of diverse backgrounds, with a broad international perspective, not just in the field.

There are wars and conflicts all over the world, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022 and is still ongoing. In addition, with many leaders who advocate nationalism emerging in elections around the world, the world seems to be in turmoil. In this environment, it can be said that liberal arts education is becoming increasingly important.

Regardless of the circumstances, Global Liberal Arts Program will continue to work with the educators, staff, and students to develop this cutting-edge program. Always looking to the future, Global Liberal Arts Program will continue to develop, so please look forward to it. We would appreciate your continued understanding and guarantor.
